1. Build and promote yourself as a Brand
You don’t have to be a sales and marketing professional to be able to do it. It is all about being at the right time and the right place to be noticed by the right person.
Simply try to find out the events relating to your domain and also the industry. For example, if you are an HR professional, then join in the official as well as in the personal capacity the associations / bodies which meet regularly to share ideas. Similarly, let us say you are a senior or top level professional, then you should be visible at the meetings / seminars / conferences organised by the local as well as the national chambers of commerce. Then there are trade fairs and exhibitions.
But remember it should not be mere publicity and no real delivery. Like a good reliable product there is dependence and trust build around it. Similarly, you should be good in your line of business, having more than required level of knowledge, competence and skill sets. Otherwise, whole effort shall be washed down.
2. Create your digital presence and make yourself visible to the recruiters
The modern world is increasingly dependent the internet. Almost for everything we are used to work online. Perhaps the modern recruiters have almost forgotten the traditional process of sifting through the heaps of job applications and resumes in the physical form. Today the head hunter would log on to his account on one of the job portals, punch in a few key words, specify a few parameters and voila there is an exact ( or near match) of resumes along with the number – say “2023 resumes matching your search”.
Alternatively, if it is a big search firm with a strong IT infrastructure then the search can take place on the internal data bank of the Recruitment Firm.
Then there is now a serious role being played by social media sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter etc. in connecting the Job Seeker and the employers.
This has a lot of hidden but important messages for you
First, you should have a strong digital presence if you want to be contacted first by the head hunters for the best employment opportunities.
Secondly, build your profile and resume with the right key words so that it can be found immediately. Post them on reputed Job Portals. Yes it may take more time than usual time to not only post your CV but also to fill in other sections, check or un-check other boxes. This will not only deposit your CV in the data base but also ccategorizeit and link it with the right tags. These links and tags are useful in letting the recruiters find you when they search for the profiles for the given mandate from their client.
Thirdly, make sure that you have your profile on LinkedIn in a professional way and is regularly updated too. Don’t forget mention your responsibilities, skills, important projects you have worked on along with the proper references and recommendations from the people who matter.
Last but not least, your profile should be complete, easy to read and well presented.

You may ask, why the recruiters look for the profiles on the internet. The answer is simple, the combination of internet and computers have made the task of searching from the database of thousands ( if not millions) of CVs in a matter of seconds only.
